Maestro Classics Swan Lake - TOS Review

Maestro Classics produces Stories in Music. We were given a copy of The Story of Swan Lake. I knew right away this was going to be a hit with my daughters!

Most of our stories on tape or CD are kept in the van for long (or short) car rides. This CD hasn't made it to the van yet because as soon as I opened it and popped it in our kitchen CD player, my 6 year old daughter had to dance along with it! My little ballerina! Both my little girls and son dance around the kitchen when they listen to The Story of Swan Lake!

The Swan Lake CD has a total playing time of 54 minutes which will be great for car rides like the one we have coming up this weekend. In addition to The Story of Swan Lake (which is 33 minutes), there is information on Tchaikovsky's life, a guitar arrangement called Speed Metal Swan (my son loves this), information about the music, and more. We are looking forward to listening, dancing and having fun to more CDs from Maestro!

This CD is great by itself and can be fun to listen and dance along with, but it can also be used as a unit study. The Maestro web site has lesson plans and Maestro has a great Educational Materials section on their web site, a must see!

The CDs (recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra) sell for $16.98 and can be purchased as a MP3 download for $9.98.
You can also purchase a 9 Collection CD set for $128, Classic 4 CD pack for $65, or a story pack for $48 HERE.

A 24-page activity book is included with the CD. It contains a biography of Tchaikovsky, information on acoustic and electric guitars, sheet music and words for a sing-along song, explanation of major and minor keys, puzzles and more. MP3 download from Maestro Classics website includes a PDF of the activity booklet.

The classical music CD series is for children ages 5 to 12.
The titles that are currently available are:
•Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel
•The Sorcerer's Apprentice
•The Tortoise and the Hare
•Peter and the Wold
•The Story of Swan Lake
•Casey at the Bat
•Juanita the Spanish Lobster
•My Name is Handel: The Story of Water Music

Entertaining and educational, a winning combination!
