The picture above was taken over Christmas. It has 9 of my 10 children in it, cute huh? Look past them, over to the left. They are standing in our movie room. Yes, we are BIG movie watchers!
For years I've had my kids watch movies and then write a movie review or answer a question form or do a book report type project after watching a movie.
Getting this review from Zeezok was a great fit for our family!
Zeezok has dozens of guides and each of them fall within a specific time in history. All of the guides contain ten educational activities based on the movie and the guides are movie specific. They tell you exactly which movie was used, and most are available thru Netflix or you can look for them at your local library.
We own the Flyboys DVD and love the movie, and we were anxious to watch it again with our Z-Guide. We each had a copy and read over it before starting the movie.
Our Z-Guide to the Movies included movie review questions, essay writing, a crossword puzzle, making a poster, a family discussion page, and more!
Working with the Z-Guide reminded me of doing a unit study with my kids. We actually took a break from most of our other work the days we worked on our Z-Guide. Focusing on the artwork for their posters they were asked to create and designing their personal identification for the side of their "aircraft". They really got into the essay writing too.
Zeezok site recommends the student completes two activities per day, taking a week to complete, but like most homeschoolers I know, this can be adapted any way you like.
Z-Guides are meant to supplement your current history studies. For us, it was a nice break from our regular history curriculum, especially coming back into our normal routine after the holidays.
