Reading Eggs is an online learning program designed for 3 to 13 year olds. This is a great program for young children just learning to read and older children who need review or to brush up on comprehension skills. There is a section for 3-4 year olds called First Steps and is a great introduction. It has a playroom area where they can play matching games. 5 year olds have Ready For School where they can build on the reading skills they have been introduced to. 6-7 year olds have Fun Practice Makes Perfect that allows your child to take a simple placement test that will ensure they start at just the right level based on their skill. 7-13 year olds can Continue The Reading Journey which is packed full of online games and activities. This is a great way for your child to continue to develope their reading skills.
Since my daughter Avarie is a very new reader, we skipped the placement test (shown above) and started at the very beginning of the program for her. She started on Map 1. If your child takes the placement test, the program will decide which Map they will start at. The Maps are fun, colorful and will keep your child's attention. The characters are super cute too!
I like that aach lesson builds on the one before and parents are able to see their child's progress quickly and easily through their dashboard. After 10 lessons are completed, the child takes a quiz in order to go on to the next set of lessons. If they do not pass the quiz, they go back and review the previous lessons.
Reading Eggs is a fun, educational experience for your child because there are games, songs, and puzzles. My goal is to always TRY to make learning FUN! Teaching my children to read has always been one of my bigger stressers in homeschooling. I'm thankful for products like this to take some of the stress away and introduce a fun, new way of learning!
