Week 6

This is the week I've been looking forward to, I think...
"They" say it takes about six weeks until you start to see results from exercise. If you know me at all, then you know I've been jumping on the scales every morning before I get dressed. Who can wait six whole weeks? I've only lost a couple pounds. Yes, muscle weighs more then fat and I'm clinging to that!!! BUT I NEED to drop some major poundage here. My goal is to loose 40 pounds by my 40th birthday and it's coming up soon! Can you loose 40 pounds in a little over a month? Hmmmm

So yesterday I got out the tape measure to see if I at least lost some inches. My hubby and BFF have told me they see a difference, but they're my biggest cheerleaders and I think they are just helping me not get discouraged.

This is what my week looks like at the gym -
Mon. - 5am to 6ish, no less then an hour
Tues. - 6:30am to 8am
Wed. - 6:30am to 8am
Thur. - 6:30am to 8am
Fri. - 5am to 6ish
Sat. & Sun. something outside and active with my kids.

I think due to my lack of weight loss I will add my Power90 DVD a couple nights a week to see if that helps.

So my results are -
3 pounds lost. 14 inches total loss from all over, with the biggest loss being 6 inches from my upper belly. (I measured everything!)
I am THRILLED with those results, but I don't really see it when I look in the mirror or feel it with the way my clothes fit. I'm really glad I wrote my measurements down before I started or I'd be completely discouraged by now. At least this is enough to keep me going.

I'm also going to start writing down what I eat, it's probably more then I think. In fact I know it's a lot more then I think.

Summer is coming and I'd like to wear a bathing suit instead of a tank top and shorts! And I'd like to look good in my shorts that I wear OUT of the pool.

How are YOU doing? Any tips for me?

  1. Sounds like you're doing great! My best tip, which is not always easy to follow because I forget, is to drink LOTS of water. If your stomach is full of water, you feel less hungry. I tend to get dehydrated without realizing it and just drinking more water makes my headaches go away. Keeping a food record is also an excellent idea, like you said.

  2. Hi,
I have lost about 15 pounds using a phone app I found. It is called MyFitnessPal and you can register using just a computer instead of a phone. I saw big results in about two months and I have been able to keep the weight off for seven months.

If you join and are comfortable with it, we could be "friends" on the app. It's a way to remain accountable and encourage each other. My name on the app is ModestMama.

Great job with the weight lost!

  3. Stopping by from the TOS Crew ... congrats on your weight loss and progress!! Finding since turning 40 last year that losing weight is a little slower but, I just keep reminding myself it is a marathon not a sprint. Definitely did not put on the weight overnight. ;)

I am doing Weight Watchers and working out three days a week. Love Pilates and Zumba! :) Some weeks I lose 2 pounds other just a 1/2 but, as long as the scale continues to move in the right direction I am happy.

Great job, keep up the good work!!

  6. You're doing great so far-- so make sure not to fall off--my hubby is a personal trainer and he says everyone is different when it comes to losing weight so try not to compare results to others all your results will really change if you watch what you eat :) Good luck on the process and can't wait to come back and see how you are doing!
