Fractazmic - TOS Review

From the makers of I See Cards comes Fractazmic!

Fractazmic is a card game that helps teach children how to convert and add fractions.

Fractazmic Decks Include:
* 60 Math Learning Cards
* Each card clearly numbered
* Each card clearly labeled with the fraction and reinforcing graphic

The object of the game is to make sets equal to 1 from the same color. There are three different colors. Red cards are sixteenths, blue cards are twelfths and green cards are tenths.
We had two players so each person got 7 cards. If more wanted to play (up to 4 players) each would have gotten 5 cards.
The remaining deck was placed face down with the top card turned up and beside the deck, this becomes the discard pile.
Time to start the playing the game!
You take a card from the deck or the discard pile, but if you take from the discard pile you must use it right away to make your hand that equals 1.
If you took a card from the deck and cant use it, discard it on the discard pile, but do not stack it so previous cards can be seen and used if needed.
You want to make one or more match by adding the fractions together (same colored suit). When you have a match that equals 1, lay it face-up in front of you.
It doesn't matter how many cards you need to lay out, as long as it equals 1 and is from the same color.
The game is over when someone runs out of cards!

Pheonix, one of my high schoolers, loved this game. Unfortunately he had a hard time convincing his younger sisters to play. They heard the word fractions and turned up their cute, little noses.
Once they sat down and tried to play, it wasn't as bad as they thought.
They did struggle a little and needed some help adding up the fractions.
I had Avarie, my 1st grader try and it was way above her math level.
Math has not been a favorite subject in our home with everyone (including me), but we love trying new things, especially games. I love to make learning fun! And even though not all my kids had fun playing this fraction game, they ask to play instead of their workbooks and surprised themselves how quickly they started picking up on fractions! Pheonix, who loves math, is still asking to play everyday!

This game is great practice and a definite, wonderful addition to your daily math.

Fractazmic is $6.95 for the 60 card deck and is for 2 - 4 players in grades 1st to 8th.
It's the most fun you'll ever have learning fractions!
