Apologia's Who Am I? - TOS Review
When I think of Apologia my thoughts immediately go to Science. I love their Science programs, we have several, but Apologia has so much more!
Last year when attending our state homeschool convention in May, I was on a search for a Bible curriculum for my kids. I knew there would be lots to pick from and look through while there. I spent hours searching for just the right fit for our family. Toward the end of the day I had finally decided on Apologia's Who Is God?
Can you guess how thrilled I was to be able to review the second book in the What We Believe series called, Who Am I? And What am I Doing Here? Created for ages 6-14 this really makes it ideal for large homeschooling families to use with several students at once. The book comes with a recommended lesson plan that can take anywhere from four to nine months to teach, you can make it work for any pace.
Who Am I? (And What Am I Doing Here?) helps children understand what it means to be fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of the Most High God. This study will enable students to develop a healthy self-image based on these biblical truths: God made me in His image and crowned me with glory; He has given me special gifts and a unique purpose in life; I can creatively express God's love; I am meant to think about beautiful and praiseworthy things, especially God and His Word; I must make decisions based on God's truth; I can always know the wise thing to do; I must cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in my life; I am a beloved child of God whose true identity is found in Christ.
This set comes with the teacher's manual for $39, the student notebooking journal is $24, the Who Am I? coloring book is $8 and the Who Am I? Audio Book, MP3, CD is $19.
The CD is an accompaniment to the book and is great for those who are auditory learners.
The coloring book is nice for your younger student. My six year old enjoyed coloring as we read the accompany stories in the teacher's manual.
I love the student notebooking journal. Your students are given the opportunity to express what they learned in the lesson by writing, answering questions and drawing in this 247 page journal. But it's so much more! My younger kids loved the mini books in the back with cut outs.
Apologia's What We Believe Series has four units that can be taught individually and does not require any particular order. Older children can work through the book with little supervision. Preparation time is minimal which is a plus for any busy schedule.
We read Who Am I as a family and although this isn't geared toward high schoolers, my children up to age 17 were very interested in participating in each lesson. This series has opened up so many different discussions about God and His word with my children. There are sections in the book that get your kids thinking. I really appreciated the What Will You Do
section throughout the book, it really pulled the lesson together.
To find out more you can view the Table of Contents or a Sample Lesson.

We love Apologia and I'm sure you will too!

Stopping by from Apologia's website. I just started Who Am I with our kiddos as a family study and love it. I agree that it's perfect for working with multiple ages. I'm glad to see that the second one in the series is just as good.
