Write With World - TOS Review

From the publishers of God's World News and WORLD Magazine comes Write With World, a middle school writing curriculum.

This is a NEW writing curriculum, not even available to purchase yet! BUT will be available for shipment during the summer of 2012.
HERE is a link with the table of contents and HERE is a sample lesson.

I'm always anxious to review writing curriculums in my home. I have both reluquent writers, middle of the road writers and one that is going to college to major in writing.

I like to keep learning fun, as much as I can. My children that have a hard time with writing or just don't like writing seem to do better when we change it up a bit, try something new and take a break from doing the same thing everyday. So when I told them we'd be trying a new writing program for a few weeks they were ALL excited!

We'll be finished with our school year in the next couple of weeks and I think my kids took it upon themselves to vote we continue with Write With WORLD until the end of our school year. They are really enjoying this curriculum!

This middle school aged curriculum is flexible, depending on your student. It could be used anywhere in grades 6-9. I personally would even consider it for high school, especially if your student hasn't had much writing training, struggles or could just use the practice.

Write With World is a 2 year writing program. I reviewed year one which consists of a teacher and student book. The student book has 16 key lessons divided into 4 units. It covers topics such as -
•Writing fundamentals
•Narratives
•Reporting
•Reviewing
•Critique and opinion
•Concepts of comparative and critical reading

The teacher book explains each unit and has multiple assignment choices to fit you and your student.

The books are non-consumable. Your student(s) will need to use a notebook to record their work. This is another feature I love about Write With WORLD, especially having a large family and knowing this can be used again and again.

Write With WORLD students will have the added incentive of being able to submit samples of their writing for possible publication on the Write With WORLD web site.

From the Write With WORLD web site -
The appeal and relevance of working with current, real-world topics and news stories.
Instead of stale, canned writing prompts, lessons are coupled to real-life experiences, current news stories, and other changing topics to add interest and relevance to the assignments and examples. In many lessons, students can choose the subjects that interest and motivate them.

Write With World sells for $95 for year one OR $165 when you purchase both the first and second year books together. The purchase price also includes access to the website coming this fall 2012.
