Home Run - Book Review

"Home Run reminds us of the power of forgiveness,
the richness of redemption, and the wisdom of trusting God to revive us."
Max Lucado, Pastor and Best-Selling Author

A powerful reminder that with God, it's never too late …

This book is amazing! I can't wait to see it in theaters.
Lets start at the beginning. The script was written in 17 months, but the idea for HOME RUN was an unscripted story idea about a baseball player that finds himself coaching a little league team in his hometown - with an alcohol problem.
Celebrate Recovery played a big part in HOME RUN as it is based on thousands true stories from testimony night. The producers went to meetings and listened to the stories of recovery from drugs, sex, and alcohol - And their experiences with true healing.
The raw honesty in the room, the church is just what the producers wanted to portray as the church in their film.
They continued attending Celebrate Recovery - which included going through the twelve steps - the more the experience shaped the storytelling of the movie.
This movie is for those Christians that are tired of faking it. Those who feel alone. Those who feel condemned. It's for those who think things will never change.
The characters in the film are real. They all have struggles...because that's true in real life.
Why are we afraid to give our problems to God and trust Him?

About the Book/Movie
Baseball all-star Cory Brand knows what it takes to win in the big leagues. But off the field, with memories of his past haunting him, his life is spiraling out of control.
Hoping to save her client's career and reputation after a DUI and a team suspension, Cory's agent sends him back to the small town where he grew up. Forced to coach the local youth baseball team and spend eight weeks in the only recovery program in town, Cory can't wait to return to his old life as quickly as possible.
As his young players help him experience the joy of the game, Cory discovers his need to find freedom from his past and hope for his future … and win back the love he left behind. With this unexpected second chance, Cory finds himself on a powerful journey of transformation and redemption.
Based on thousands of true stories, HOME RUN is a powerful reminder that with God, it's never too late … freedom is possible.
